AFWERX Awards SBIR Grant to A.U.FIRE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - May 16, 2023

CARSON, CA – A.U.FIRE, a leading innovator in combat training technology, has been honored with the esteemed AFWERX Phase 1 SBIR Grant. This recognition propels A.U.FIRE's advanced training system to bolster military readiness by realistically simulating combat injuries in a safe environment.

The A.U.FIRE program uses remote-controlled EMS/EStim garment technology to simulate intense, cramp-like muscle contractions akin to immobilizing gunshot injuries, creating genuine but safe physical and mental stress for Special Forces personnel. By remotely eliminating the ability to use an arm, this replicated duress of a GSW is a critical training tool, enabling soldiers to practice crucial tasks single-handedly, like weapon manipulation, reloading, malfunction clearing, accurately returning fire, and tourniquet application under realistic conditions. By experiencing an instant simulated incapacitating injury in training scenarios, they can develop adaptable response strategies, build stress inoculation, and enhance their preparedness against increasing threats, providing a taste of the challenges they may encounter in actual combat situations.

"We're greatly honored by AFWERX's recognition," said Tim Pearce, CEO of A.U.FIRE. "This endorsement empowers us to refine our technology further, reasserting our unwavering commitment to serving our military."

A.U.FIRE's selection for the AFWERX SBIR Grant, part of the U.S. Department of Defense's innovation initiative, underscores the company's dedication to meeting the evolving training needs of military personnel.
